Hot Tub Time Machine

Last night and saw Hot Tub Time Machine. The first time I saw previews I actually thought it was going to be pretty retarded, but I was pleasantly surprised! Rob Corddry’s character Lou was absolutely hilarious and probably made the movie worth watching. There’s not much of a plot aside from what you see in the previews, so I can’t really say much more about it other than it’s funny. I recommend it if you’re in the mood for some mindless comedy.

Oh, and while walking home down Third Avenue at midnight I found $10 on the sidewalk. Talk about an awesome night!

Jagermonster

Just saw a rerun of Modern Family, with the absolute perfect description of Jagermeister:

Alex: “Dad, what’s Jagermeister?”
Phil: “You know how in a fairy tale there’s always a potion that makes the princess fall asleep and then the guy starts kissing her? Well, this is like that except you don’t wake up in a castle — you wake up in a frat house with a bad reputation.”

30 Rock… part 2

By the way, I completely revoke everything I’ve previously said about 30 Rock. I watched about 15 episodes over the weekend (what a way to spend a vacation, right?), and I like it now. Time to crush it and watch all of the episodes in order like I always do with a good series!

One Complaint About Avatar

Oh yeah, I did have one complaint about Avatar. Was that Papyrus font for the captions?!

Escalator at the Lincoln Square theaters

I was secretly hoping that Avatar would suck just so that I could say “AVATARDED!” in my Facebook status. But seriously, it was awesome! Maybe it’s because I’ve grown up only watching comedies and I’ve never seen a sci-fi or 3D movie; or maybe it’s because I saw it in IMAX 3D? Or maybe it’s because of the awesome super buttery popcorn and giant bag of Reese’s Pieces I was eating? Or maybe it’s just because it’s a damn good movie- at least in 3D it is. I’m not so sure I would have loved it as much if it weren’t in 3D, so I definitely recommend seeing it while it’s in theaters. All of you tools out there that are waiting for it to come out on Blu-ray, don’t waste your time; go to the theaters immediately! A few people I was with got nauseous from the 3D scenes and had to remove their glasses everye once in a while, but it didn’t bother me at all. When it comes to fast motion and awesome graphics, I say bring it Hollywood!

Avatar

I’m finally going to see Avatar. In 3D Imax @ Lincoln Center. Better be worth the $20.50 I paid for this ticket!

Team Conan

One more thought for the day. As a writer who hopes to eventually dabble in comedic writing and stand-up, I still love the comic genius that is Conan O’Brien. I don’t think I’ve ever used the word kudos in my life, but kudos Conan; for voicing your honest opinion in a classy, tasteful way. And you should know that I literally spit soup out of my mouth when I read the last two sentences of your letter addressed to the People of Earth:

“Have a great day and, for the record, I am truly sorry about my hair; it’s always been that way.”

Up In The Air

Up In The Air

Last night I watched Up In The Air from the comfort of my own bed. I had my doubts going into it, especially after finding out that it was from the same director as Juno (I disliked Juno, by the way), but it kept me thoroughly entertained enough to not fall asleep. I saw Public Enemies a few nights ago and fell asleep about an hour and twenty minutes in. The plot bored the hell out of me and it just seemed to be lacking something. A lot of something.

Anyway, back to Up In The Air. It started off slow. I immediately thought about closing my eyes and calling it a night. But then it got a little more involved and interesting, and ended on a decent note as well. I wouldn’t exactly rush out to a theater to see it unless you’ve got the cash to blow, but it’s worth watching on a night at home, once it comes out on DVD of course. I am by no means a movie buff, nor am I a talented movie reviewer; I just wanted to share that it was overall entertaining- and you get to look at lots and lots of George Clooney, if you’re into him.

SATC2 May 28

As I am mildly technologically illiterate, I haven’t figured out how to embed this video since the YouTube post says disabled. So you’ll just have to bear with me and go to the SATC2 website.

Even though I wasn’t a huge fan of the Sex & The City Movie, I know where I’ll be on May 28th! I still love the series and watch it at least once a week. This teaser really doesn’t give us much to go by in the way of a plot, but I’m beyond pumped to see it! I might have to wait a few days though, so that I don’t have to deal with all of the obnoxious moviegoers who can’t shut up for more than 6 seconds at a time.

Don Draper Fail

Don-Draper-Doll

No. No No No NO! I’m sorry DraftFCB, but this does NOT look like Don Draper! I know it’s only a doll, but the face looks like that of a 13 year old pre-pubescent metrosexual; not a suave, chain-smoking/drinking man who’s capable of swooning women who are still battling puberty. And that hat? I don’t think Don Draper would ever wear such an enormous, gawdy pimp hat like this. All he needs is a cane in his hand along with his ill-fitting suit to achieve the pimp look completely. Don Draper dresses perfectly, in slim fitting suits that are usually fairly neutral in color. I just think they got it all wrong. I’m not even crazy about the packaging; it feels a little generic.
