Victoria’s Secret Knows What’s Up

81010

Why yes, Victoria’s Secret, it will be incredible! You know why? BECAUSE IT’S MY BIRTHDAY!

I think fate drove me to take a lunchtime walk down past Victoria’s Secret in Herald Square today. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have known that the entire world is excited for my birthday (even though they should be; obviously)!

Overrated or Not; Some Things I Can’t Turn Down

Magnolia Cupcake

Just as I was vocalizing my craving for something sweet, in comes a batch of Magnolia cupcakes! Thanks to Steve McCarron for being born on this date, and his lovely wife for bringing us all a delightful afternoon treat!

Swimming on Top of the World

Singapore
Wow. Look at this infinity pool at the Marina Bay Sands hotel in Singapore.

1 2 3 Burger Shot Beer

After a long, slow day at work yesterday, a coworker and I went to check out a sports bar in Hells Kitchen. On 10th ave, between 50th and 51st streets sits 1 2 3 Burger Shot Beer. It’s a small space, with plenty of flatscreens to see your favorite team (although the Yankees dominated last night). We sat out on the patio and enjoyed the nice weather along with the cheap prices. The place is called 1 2 3 Burger Shot Beer for a reason. $1 burgers, $2 shots, and $3 beers. And the beer list was overall impressive- Stella, Sam Adams, Newcastle to name a few. The burgers were really sliders, but satisfying nonetheless. It was refreshing to get change back from a 20 dollar bill for a nice snack and a few cold beers.

Racers & Rockstars

Is anybody else sick of GoDaddy’s ridiculous Danica Patrick commercials? It’s like they just won’t stop coming up with stupid, half-assed ideas and executing them as a thirteen year old boy would. I’m not even going to give them viewers by linking to one as an example. You’ve all seen them on the Super Bowl at least. And for all of you men, you’ve probably visited the GoDaddy site to see the “not safe for television” scenes.

On the other hand, I really enjoy this Intel commercial I’ve been seeing lately; probably because I can identify with it a bit. I’m not really one for celebrities, but put a creative genius in front of me and I guess that’s my rock star. Although, I recently read that this guy is just an actor… If this is true, it kind of takes the coolness factor down a notch. Why not have the real guy?

Nike+ workout

Park

Yesterday began my summer workout that I’ve been promising myself for the last four months. It seems that between school, work and fast food meals, I’ve often fallen into slumps when it comes to my health and fitness.

About a year ago, Richard Ting from R/GA gave our class a presentation about their company, which primarily focused on the development of the Nike+ campaign. I was sold within the first two sentences, because it just seemed like such an awesome device. It’s like a little personal trainer, playing your favorite music, and telling you your speed/rate, etc. So a year later, aka this past February, I bought the Nike+. May 18th, I used it for the first time.

Overall, my workout was pretty good. I’ve got a lot of work to do before I can call myself a runner, but I did manage to take a brisk walk down to the park (a half mile from my apartment) and then run/walk alternate for the 1.58 miles around the reservoir, and then continue the alterations all the way home- including up the four flights of stairs. My body hasn’t felt this used (in a good way!) in such a long time!

I turned on my Nike+ & my iPod upon leaving my apartment, hoping to jog down the stairs to begin the workout. Well that’s all the further I made it when the thing quit working. All of a sudden it said “WORKOUT COMPLETE,” and every time I went to restart, it told me that I needed to re-connect the receiver. After unplugging and plugging back in several times, only to have the same short 15 second workouts followed by the same errors, I finally quit messing with it. I’m kind of annoyed, because I have no idea what my pace was or anything for my first run- to know if I’m improving. Now I have no idea if I bought a faulty Nike+, or perhaps there just wasn’t enough charge on my iPod to keep the thing running? I put it on the charger all night, and I’ll give it another shot tonight- though I’ll probably endure a much shorter run today since my muscles are a bit tight…

Yay for getting in shape!
